Frequently Asked Questions

Q: I don’t have a partner.  Can I still join?
A: Yes!  Most people came without partners, and those who don’t, typically dance with other people anyway.
Q: How much does this cost?
A: The dues are $5.00 for one semester. The money is used to purchase drinks and decorations for the dances.
Q: Do I need special shoes?
A: No. Most women wear a pair of comfortable heels and most men wear dress shoes, but any shoe in which you can dance is perfect. Some people even dance barefoot (flipflops are really the only bad choice, since tripping over them is easy).
Q: When do we meet and where?
A: During Spring 2012, we are meeting Friday nights from 5-6 p.m. in Union Room 302 and Sunday afternoons from 3-6 p.m. in the State Ballroom or Moore Auditorium. Check the current schedule for a full listing of dates, times, and locations. If you need a hard copy, e-mail us at fsubdc@yahoo.com, and we will print one for you.
Q: So do we do ballroom competitions?
A: Right now, we’re teaching social (not competition) ballroom, but if enough people want to and feel confident to compete, we can definitely consider organizing a team.
Q: So why should I do ballroom?
A: Dancing is great exercise, a way to interact socially, and a stress-reliever!
