Welcome back to Ballroom, everyone! In SPRING 2012, we are meeting two times a week.
Student Lessons: Friday, 5-6 pm in Union Room 302
Student and Community Lessons: Sunday, 3-6 pm in The State Ballroom or Moore Auditorium
An Introduction to Us
The Ballroom Dance Club of Florida State University is a social Registered Student Organization (RSO) that exists to promote ballroom dancing not only amongst students but members of the community. Through teaching social ballroom dancing, we not only bring class and culture to Florida State University, we also give members a chance to meet others in the Tallahassee area who also enjoy ballroom dancing, not necessarily for competition but simply for the sake of dancing.

MEETINGS
The weekly meetings for the “general” ballroom dance club will always be on SUNDAYS and will have the following format:
Review: one of both dances from the BEGINNER’S class of the previous week
Beginner’s Class: 2 new dances
Workshop: add on to a BEGINNER’S dance
Intermediate / Advanced: a fancy step to add to a mastered beginner’s dance OR a new, more complicated dance.
DANCES
Twice a semester (once in each summer term) there will be dances held in place of lessons. These dances are generally pot-luck and the ballroom dance club provides drinks, plates, napkins, decorations, utensils, music etc. Usually these dances will have a theme. In the FALL semester our two themes are HALLOWEEN and WINTER WONDERLAND. Our SPRING and SUMMER semester themes are up for the members to vote on.
EQUIPMENT AND FEES
To join the ballroom dance club there is NO partner, experience, special outfit or special shoes required though we do ask whatever shoes the dancers wear are shoes they can dance in. It is recommended that men wear dress shoes and women wear comfortable heels.
Students: If a female student can bring with her a male friend or a date to dance with (or vice versa) for the student lessons, it is much appreciated.
There is also a $5.00 per semester fee that the dance club asks for to pay for the decorations, drinks etc. provided at the dances as well as money for musical equipment and CDs. NO INSTRUCTORS OR STUDENT STAFF ARE PAID WITH THESE FEES.
